Curious about how a Kidioma session works? Here’s a detailed look into our routine — designed to immerse children naturally and joyfully into the target language. Every step is carefully crafted to spark their curiosity, support their progress, and make learning a real pleasure!

1. A song to say hello

At Kidioma, every class starts with a welcome song. It helps kids get into the rhythm of the target language (English or French), reconnect with the group, and settle into a comforting routine. All classes are 100% immersive — the teacher only speaks in English or French. And if that sounds hard for kids, remember that they rely much more on body language than adults… and they adapt super fast!

The children sing, move, greet each other — all in a foreign language!

2. Daily routine: weather, day of the week, emotions

Next up, we use an interactive board to go over the day’s basics. The kids learn to say:

  • The day’s date (linked to planets — e.g., "Monday > Moon")

  • The weather

  • How they feel today (using emojis)

This ritual builds vocabulary, time awareness, emotional expression — and self-confidence!

3. Introducing or reviewing vocabulary

We explore new themes frequently (monthly or every two months). Themes may include animals, body parts, school supplies, self-introductions…
Vocabulary always comes with useful daily-life expressions. For example, when learning to introduce themselves, children learn “I,” “you,” and key verbs like “have” and “be”: “I have a sister,” “I’m 7 years old,” “I’m a girl”…
We introduce vocabulary visually and playfully — with flashcards, gestures, and fun repetition.

Another key aspect of our method: vocabulary and sentence-building come before writing (whenever possible). This helps children naturally associate the sound with its written form — almost without realizing it! For example, they’ll understand that “o” + “u” makes the “oo” sound in French.

4. Story time or video discovery

Depending on the age group and day’s theme, we either read a picture book or watch a short age-appropriate video.
This calm moment lets children hear the language in a rich and real context — with characters, emotions, tone of voice. Older kids can also participate by reading out loud, linking spoken words to written ones. It’s a fantastic way to reinforce vocabulary — in English or French!

5. Games and creative activities to reinforce learning

And of course… we play!
Kids enjoy interactive games, arts and crafts, role-playing, mini skits…

These fun moments help them reuse vocabulary learned earlier in the session.

For instance, when we work on food vocabulary, they learn how to express needs: “I’m hungry,” “I’m thirsty,” “I’d like…”
We role-play food stands with phrases like: “I’d like X please,” “How much is it?” or “How many do you want?”
And we always practice polite phrases!

Why does this structure work so well at Kidioma?

  • It provides a safe and predictable framework for kids

  • It engages all learning styles: visual, auditory, kinesthetic

  • It supports natural progress toward speaking — no pressure

  • It boosts focus, motivation, and joy

  • And it’s super fun — they don’t even realize they’re learning!

Our workshops alternate high-energy games, calmer moments (like crafts), and structured conversation (like board games and start-of-class routines).

Our goal? That children own the language — by playing, speaking, and moving.
